CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
Behavior
It is important in a science classroom for students to be on task and focused at all times to prevent accidents. The science curriculum is primarily hands-on and in order to perform the labs safely and efficiently, misbehavior is not tolerated. If, however, a student chooses to act inappropriately, consequences will be given which may result in removal from the classroom, detention and a referral. If students choose to ignore classroom rules then they choose to accept the consequences. Students are expected to come to class ready to learn and actively participate every day.
Late & Make-up Work
Students who are absent are responsible for all missed material and labs. Students may obtain make-up work by checking the appropriate folder. Students have as many days to complete and turn in make-up work, including quizzes or tests as the number of school days missed. If a student misses a lab they are responsible for getting the information either from my website or myself directly. If make-up work is not completed within the appropriate time frame, the student will receive 10% deduction for each day it is late. All late work will receive a 10% deduction for each day it is late. As a general rule, all make-up work must be initiated by the student.
Homework
Homework will be checked at the beginning of class on the day it is due. If the assignment is not complete the student will receive no credit. Students who did not complete the assignment are encouraged to finish the assignment in a timely manner. It is the responsibility of the student to write down weekly assignments and the due date.
Be Respectful
To be a member of this class you will be expected to respect the room, other students, the teacher and most importantly yourself. In order to create the learning environment needed to succeed you will follow class rules and procedures at all times. Students should have no fear of sharing their ideas and thoughts with the class and with the teacher as this is essential to learning.
